Continuing my quest to replay games of my not-so-youth on my much better computer, I picked up this puppy digitally after an attempt at an old boxed version failed to load after multiple attempts.
The problem seemed to be repeating itself with the digital download. First, troubles getting it fully resident on my C: drive, then finding the right compatibility "flavor" and finally having it run seamlessly without Uplay or freezes.
I don't care for the concept of Uplay (or Steam, et al) because I see them as cheap tricks to pummel me with more marketing or other intrusions when all I want to do is play a game. Fortunately, unlike future versions of M&M, you're not forced to play through the portal but the first install.
As for the game, well, if you're playing from nostalgia, you know how fun it is. If you're new to exploration/strategy/limited RPG, this whole series is a hoot. You're not faced with the myriad controls and responsibilities in today's overly complex RPG games but you are still given a long and rich storyline that guarantees many hours of classic game play.
On today's newer big screens and hyped up CPU's, once you get the game compatible (I'm using Windows 10), it's a wild ride in full screen!
